Hey, Squids!
Starting something new is always exciting—and a little scary. Like many creative people, I started this indie comic company with stars in my eyes, dreaming of big goals and grand ideas. While drawing my comic book I got stuck planning my Social Media, and newsletter instead of just doing it. It hit me: Why not just leap and see what happens?
After 20 years as a contract artist for animation studios (working from home in Texas, no less!), my journey recently took a sharp turn. My work on Tiny Toons Luniversity wrapped up just as Hollywood entered a recession. With the writers' strike and studios outsourcing, the work dried up. Tough times for many.
But then my wife gave me a nudge—a push, really—to focus on my dream: creating my own characters and stories. It’s terrifying and exhilarating to start over, but here I am, leaping headfirst into a whole new adventure.
Last year, I published two comic books: Black Phantom: Rockets Red Glare and Kid Squid. Many of you joined me for those campaigns, and your kind words and support kept me going. Thank you for that!
Now, I’m thrilled to share my next project: Black Phantom: Holy Terror #1. The stakes couldn’t be higher—Black Phantom and his fearless sidekicks are racing to secure the legendary Spear of Destiny before a mad general uses its power to wreak havoc. Thrills, action, and danger await! And guess what? The line art is 100% done!
